Aadhaar update charges hiked: Certain services cost more from October 1, biometric update fee for children waived – check details
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced a revised fee structure for Aadhaar-related services, effective October 1, 2025, and applicable until September 30, 2028. Subsequent adjustments are scheduled from October 1, 2028, to September 30, 2031.Under the new rates, standard service fees will rise: services previously costing Rs 50 will increase to Rs 75, and Rs 100 services will go up to Rs 125. From 2028, Rs 75 services will increase to Rs 90, and Rs 125 services will rise to Rs 150.Biometric and demographic updatesBiometric updates for children aged 5-7 years and teenagers aged 15-17 years will remain free. For children aged 7-15 years, biometric updates will be free until September 30, 2026, as part of UIDAI’s initiative to reduce Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) pendency. Other biometric updates will incur a fee of Rs 125.Demographic updates, including name, gender, birth date, address, or contact details, are free when done alongside biometric updates. Standalone demographic updates now cost Rs 75, up from Rs 50. Updates for identity and address documents via the myAadhaar portal are free until June 14, 2026, while updates at enrolment centres now cost Rs 75, up from Rs 50.Home enrolment service chargesFor home enrolment services, UIDAI charges Rs 700 (including GST) plus standard update fees. When multiple residents at the same address request this service, the first enrollee pays Rs 700, while others pay Rs 350 each, as reported by ET.
